Na današnji dan prije 43 godine na letu iz Beograda za Sarajevo srušio se avion u kojem su život izgubili tadašnji predsjednik Saveznog izvršnog vijeća (SIV) Džemal Bijedić, njegova supruga Razija i članovi posade.
Bijedić je bio pravnik, učesnik Narodnooslobodilačke borbe. Bio je društveno-politički radnik SFR Jugoslavije i SR Bosne i Hercegovine i junak socijalističkog rada. U periodu od 1971. do 1977. godine obavljao je funkciju predsjednika Saveznog izvršnog vijeća.

Bijedić je rođen 22. aprila 1917. godine u Mostaru. Potječe iz ugledne trgovačke porodice Bajramage Bijedića, koja se 1915. godine doselila iz Gacka u Mostar. Bilo mu je tek nešto više od godinu kada mu je 1919. otac Adem umro od španske gripe. Tada su svu brigu o porodici preuzeli njegova majka Zafira i stric Bećir.
Osnovnu školu završio je u rodnom mjestu, a Pravni fakultet u Beogradu.

Kao gimnazijalac bio je član muslimanskog društva ”Gajret” i postao je simpatizer revolucionarnog omladinskog pokreta, kome se priključio tokom studija u Beogradu. U oktobru 1938. u Beogradu je primljen u članstvo Saveza komunističke omladine Jugoslavije (SKOJ), a u decembru 1939. u Mostaru u članstvo Komunističke partije Jugoslavije (KPJ). U periodu od 1940. do 1941. bio je sekretar Oblasnog komiteta SKOJ-a za Hercegovinu. Kao član KPJ i Mostaru hapšen je četiri puta.
Bijedić je nakon Drugog svjetskog rata bio pomoćnik ministra unutrašnjih poslova Vlade NR Bosne i Hercegovine, potom 1948. načelnik Uprave za agitaciju i propagandu Centralnog komiteta KP BiH. Bio je i sekretar Oblasnog komiteta KPJ za Hercegovinu, član Izvršnog vijeća SR Bosne i Hercegovine, predsjednik Republičkog vijeća, predsjednik Skupštine SRBiH i predsjednik SIV-a.
Tragično je preminuo 18. januara 1977. u avionskoj nesreći na letu za Sarajevo nakon što je u Beogradu ispratio Tita na put u Libiju. Supruga Razija je poginula zajedno s Džemalom. Iza sebe su ostavili troje djece: Dragana, Azru i Milenka.
Odmah po saznanju za tragediju Tito se vratio u zemlju i prisustvovao njegovoj sahrani u Sarajevu.
Na čelu SIV-a naslijedio ga je Veselin Đuranović iz Crne Gore.
Iste godine, kada je poginuo, u Mostaru je osnovan Univerzitet koji i danas nosi ime Džemala Bijedića.
No, nedugo nakon smrti Džemala i Razije Bijedić u javnosti se tiho, a onda sve glasnije počelo govoriti da nije riječ o avionskoj nesreći nego o ubistvu.
O tome je mnogo puta svjedočio i njegov bliski rođak Bahrudin Buri Bijedić.
Posljednji put se, kaže, s Džemalom sastao tri mjeseca prije smrti, 23. oktobra 1977. u vikendici u Trnovu, kraj Sarajeva.
– Govorio mi je na uho: ”Bahrice, puno znam, ubit će me.” Govorio je da je Tito izoliran, da je blokiran od supruge Jovanke, da se do njega ne može doći. Govorio mi je o vrhovima JNA. Bez daljnjeg, on je predosjećao smrt – naveo je Bahrudin Bijedić, nekadašnji konzul SFRJ.
On kaže da takvi slučajevi ne mogu zastarjeti i da bi trebalo doći do obnavljanja istrage i rekonstrukcije na sličan način kako se to čini sa slučajevima smrti palestinskog lidera Jasera Arafata ili ili bivšeg turskog premijera Turkguta Ozala.
Džemal Bijedić je u jutarnjim satima 18. januara 1977. godine sa Batajničkog aerodroma, nakon što je ispratio Josipa Broza Tita na službeni put u Libiju i Egipat, avionom poletio prema Sarajevu gdje je trebalo da učestvuje na sjednici CK SK Bosne i Hercegovine.
Ipak, njegov avion nikada nije stigao do Sarajeva – na tom putu brdo Inač iznad Kreševa bilo je kobno.
Skupa sa Džemalom poginula je njegova supruga Razija, piloti Stevan Leka i Murat Hanić, podsekretar u Bijedićevom kabinetu dr. Smajo Hrle, aviomehaničar Ilija Jevđenović, lični Bijedićev pratilac Zijad Alikalfić i domaćica u rezidenciji predsednika SIV-a Anđela Muzička.
S obzirom na to da je Bijedić bio važna figura jugoslavenske politike i predsjednik Savezne vlade, sprovedena je detaljna istraga koju je vodila Komisija za ispitivanje uzroka udesa aviona, na čijem čelu je bio Boško Dimitrijević.
Na kraju tog izvještaja komisija je zaključila kako je glavni uzrok udara aviona u greben planine Inač brzina aviona.Greben u koji je avion udario visok je 1366,3 metra, što je 280 metara niže od minimalno propisane visine za taj sektor u proceduri za prilaz i slijetanje na aerodrom u Sarajevo.
Teorije zavjere
Postoji dosta različitih izvora o teorijama zavjere.
Jedni tvrde da je visinomjer aviona prije polijetanja s Batajničkog aerodroma bio namjerno naštiman tako da je pokazivao veću visinu od stvarne. Dovoljno je to bilo za nesreću, bez obzira na maglu i brzinu. Jer, avion je zbog toga napravio zaokret iznad radio-fara na Crepoljskom na 20 m nižoj visini od dozvoljene i to može biti razlog za udar na vrh brda Inač.
Neki opet misle da Džemala Bijedića neki krugovi u Beogradu i u JNA nisu podnosili i da su hteli da ga se riješe, jer su videli u njemu Titovog nasljednika.
