Veliki udarac za Ligu šampiona – formirana Superliga
Najavljeno – učinjeno. Dvanaest najbogatijih fudbalskih klubova Evrope donijelo je odluku da formiraju takmičenje pod nazivom Superliga.
Klubovi osnivači, ukupno njih 12 su: Milan, Arsenal, Atletico Madrid, Chelsea, Barcelona, Inter, Juventus, Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester United, Real Madrid i Tottenham.
„Očekuje se da će se još tri kluba pridružiti prije početka prve sezone, koja bi trebalo da počne što prije. Radujemo se diskusijama sa UEFA i FIFA kako bismo došli do najboljih ishoda za novu Ligu, ali i za fudbal u cijelini,“ piše u saopštenju i dodaje da će svi klubovi učestvovati u svojim nacionalnim ligama, čuvajući tradicionalni domaći kalendar koji ostaje u središtu klupskog takmičenja.
Projekat novog takmičenja podrazumijeva formiranje lige u kojoj će učestvovati 20 najboljih klubova u Evropi – 15 osnivača, plus pet koji će kvalifikovati na osnovu rezultata u prethodnoj sezoni.
Debitantska sezone će startovati početkom avgusta, a ekipe će biti podijeljene u dve grupe sa po deset učesnika. Utakmice će se igrati tokom nedjelje, a po tri najbolja tima iz svake grupe automatski će se plasirati u četvrtfinale. Ekipe koje završe na četvrtoj i petoj poziciji igrat će baraž za popunu preostala dva mjesta.
U četvrtfinalu i polufinalu će se igrati po dvije utakmice, a pobednika Superlige odlučit će meč na neutralnom terenu koji je na programu krajem maja. U bliskoj budućnosti najavljeno je i formiranje ženske Superlige, koje će „doprinijeti promociji i razvoju ženskog fudbala.“
Potvrđeno je i da će klubovi osnivači za ulazak u Superligu dobiti do 3.5 milijardi kao potporu svojim planovima za ulaganje u infrastrukturu i ublažavanju uticaja pandemije COVID.
Predsjednik novoformiranog takmičenja će biti Florentino Perez, prvi čovjek madridskog Reala, a potpredsednici Andrea Agnelli (Juventus) i Joel Glazier (Manchester United).
„Pomoći ćemo fudbalu na svim nivoima i odvesti ga na pravo mjesto u svijetu. Fudbal je jedini svjetski sport sa više od četiri milijarde navijača širom svijeta i naša odgovornost kao velikih klubova je odgovoriti na njihove želje,“ poručio je Perez.
Formiranje evropske Superlige veliki je udarac za Ligu šampiona, a UEFA i FIFA, koja poziva na jedinstvo, su već poručili da ne odobravaju novo takmičenje.
„Svim klubovima i igračima koji budu učestvovali u Superligi mogao bi da bude zabranjen pristup svim UEFA i FIFA takmičenjima, evropskim ili međunarodnim.“
