Predsjednik Republike Turske Recep Tayyip Erdogan u ponedjeljak će svečano otvoriti novu zgradu “Turkevi” (Turska kuća) od 35 spratova u New Yorku, preko puta zgrade Ujedinjenih naroda (UN), javlja Anadolu Agency (AA).
U zgradi će biti smješteni i Stalno predstavništvo Turske pri Ujedinjenim narodima (UN) i generalni konzulat Turske u New Yorku.
Erdogan će posjetiti New York povodom 76. sjednice Generalne skupštine UN-a, a u ponedjeljak će otvoriti i zgradu Centra “Turkevi” (Turska kuća).
Radi se o zgradi koja je kupljena od američkog IT giganta IBM-a 1977. godine zahvaljujući naporima tadašnjeg ministra vanjskih poslova Turske Ihsana Sabrija Caglayangila.
Do 2013. godine zgrada je služila kao Stalno predstavništvo Turske pri UN-u i generalni konzulat Turske u New Yorku.
Sada je na tom mjestu izgrađen neboder od 35 spratova u skladu s aktivnom vanjskom politikom Turske, što je svakako povećalo ugled i potrebe zvanične Ankare tokom posljednje dvije decenije.
Nova zgrada visoka 171 metar i površine od oko 20.000 kvadratnih metara, nalazi se preko puta zgrade UN-a i Stalnog predstavništva Sjedinjenih Američkih Država pri UN-u.
U zgradi se, između ostalog, nalaze brojne sale za sastanke i izložbe, parking i druge prateće prostorije.
Projekat zgrade “Turkevi” (Turska kuća) dizajnirala je američka arhitektonska kompanija “Perkins Eastman”. Glavni arhitekta Jonathan Stark osmislio je konačni izgled zgrade nakon što je posjetio Tursku kako bi obišao tamošnja arhitektontska dostignuća.
Zgrada, osmišljena u duhu tradicionalnih turskih arhitektonskih motiva, uzdiže se u visinu u obliku lale, a može se vidjeti i iz centralnog dijela Manhattana, East Rivera i Long Island Cityja.
Zgrada je dizajnirana kao neboder koji će dodatno obogatiti prepoznatljivu siluetu New Yorka, jednog od najvažnijih svjetskih gradova, a odražavat će i tursku kulturu, historiju i njenu raznolikost.
Sam ulaz zgrade je inspirisan arhitekturom seldžučkih i osmanskih karavan-saraja, odnosno mjesta gdje su se nalazila prenočišta za učesnike karavana na njihovom dužem putu.
Zgrada sadrži i skladišni sistem koji omogućava prikupljanje i korištenje kišnice, posjeduje i certifikat “Leed Silver” u okviru zelene zgrade, te ima karakteristiku nebodera koji je ekološki prihvatljiv.
Zgrada “Turska kuća” svojim karakteristikama i novitetima mogla bi zasigurno postati jedna od kultnih zgrada u New Yorku. Na izgradnji zgrade radila je tursko-američka partnerska kompanija.
