Kandidat za novog ambasadora SAD-a: Podržati Schmidta i euroatlantski put BiH
Danas je pred Komitetom za vanjske poslove američkog Senata održano saslušanje kandidata za ambasadora Sjedinjenih Američkih Država u Bosni i Hercegovini Michaela Murphyja, kao dio redovne procedure u procesu imenovanja diplomata u svijetu.
U predstavljanju kandidata kojeg je nominirao predsjednik Joe Biden i zemlje za koju je nominiran, predsjedavajuća Jeannee Shaheen je između ostalog kazala kako je BiH napravila veliki iskorak te da Dejtonski mirovni sporazum i dalje služi kao okvir za upravljanje u zemlji.
Pozdravila je i imenovanje novog visokog predstavnika u zemlji ranije ove godine.
“Ako se imenovanje potvrdi, nadam se da će prioritet u radu novog ambasadora biti zaposlenost, posebno među mladim ljudima”, kazala je Shaheen.
Bosna i Hercegovina mora nastaviti da surađuje sa Sjedinjenim Državama i međunarodnom zajednicom kako bi pružila ekonomske prilike za mlade ljude, dodala je.
U svom predstavljanju Murphy je kazao kako je privilegovan što se predstavlja kao kandidat američkog predsjednika za novog ambasadora u BiH.
“Ako moje imenovanje bude potvrđeno, radujem se svom povratku u Sarajevo, gdje sam obnašao dužnost od 2006. do 2008. Doživio sam bh. narod kao gostoljubiv i prijateljski, i jedva čekam da s njima opet surađujem”, kazao je Murphy na samom početku obraćanja.
Istakao je kako je tokom njegove karijere postojao konsenzus obje stranke o tome da je mir u Europi međunarodni interes, te da je podrška Bosni i Hercegovini ključna u postizanju tog cilja, a vodstvo SAD neophodno.
“Ako moje imenovanje bude potvrđeno, podrška provođenju Dejtonskog mirovnog sporazuma će biti prioritet u mom radu, zatim reformama na državnom nivou, i najvažnije od svega, suverenitetu i teritorijalnom integritetu BiH”.
Dalje je istakao kako je neophodno pružiti podršku radu Uredu visokog predstavnika i provođenju takozvane “5+2” agende, dodavši da će osim toga prioriteti u njegovom radu biti i podrška euroatlantskom putu BiH, te reformama koje je nophodno provesti na tom putu.
“Euroatlantska integracija je najsigurniji put za demokratsku, prosperitetnu i sigurnu budućnost koju žele i zaslužuju svi građani BiH”, podvukao je Murphy.
Naveo je kako će pružiti podršku reformi vladavine prava, posebnu u dijelu koji se odnosi na borbu protiv korupcije, koja podriva funkcionalnost i stabilnost neophodne za implementaciju Dejtonskog sporazuma i ugrožava euroatlantsku integraciju BiH.
Murphy je također kazao kako će raditi na suzbijanju utjecaja unutrašnjih i vanjskih aktera “posebno Rusije i Kine koji su prijetnja našim interesima i narušavaju budućnost BiH”.
Osim ovih, prioriteti u radu potencijalno novog ambasadora bit će i ekonomske reforme te podrška procesu pomirenja u zemlji, dodao je u svom predstavljanju pred Senatom.
“Sto hiljada života je izgubljeno i počinjeni su strašni zločini, uključujući genocid u Srebrenici. Krivica za Srebrenicu i druge zločine je na onima koji su ih počinili, a ne na cijelim etničkim grupama. Dužnost današnjih lidera je da pozovu počinitelje na odgovornost, da priznaju i poštuju žrtve te da promoviraju pomirenje,” kazao je Murphy te je dodao kako se lideri moraju fokusirati na izgradnju zajedničke i prosperitetne budućnosti za sviju u BiH.
Nakon uvodnog obraćanja Murphy i ostali kandidati će odgovarati na pitanja pred komitetom, a u danima koji slijede glasat će se o imenovanjima.
