– S obzirom na to da je gojaznost najveći faktor kod bolesti srca, išli smo s tim da ako možemo da zaustavimo djelovanje tog proteina možda će to imati pozitivne efekte na kardiovaskularne probleme. Novac smo dobili i, evo, prije nekoliko dana, nakon 30 mjeseci rada, istraživanje je završeno – kaže Delibegović.
Istraživači su došli do zaključka da su trigliceridi i holesterol kod zamoraca bili smanjeni i u granicama normale za razliku od stanja prije davanja lijeka. I osjetljivost na insulin se također popravila. Kada je u pitanju primjena lijeka kod ljudi, do te faze ima još posla, ali ova naučnica govori da se radi na tome.
– Lijek je već u kliničkim eksperimentima, u drugoj fazi kada je u pitanju dijabetes i prvoj kada je u pitanju rak dojke, tako da očekujemo da će naše istraživanje ubrzati proces – kazala je.
Važno je naglasiti da su rezultati pokazali da kod miševa nije bilo nikakvih kontraindikacija. Delibegović kaže da su pohvale za njen tim došle sa raznih strana i od mnogo važnih ljudi u ovoj oblasti farmakologije, ali da pohvale nisu ono što naučnik traži.
