‘Bez straha smo došli sa željom da pobijedimo BiH’
Selektor fudbalske reprezentacije Sjeverne Irske Ian Baraclough kazao je da je sa svojim izabranicima u Sarajevo došao bez straha s ciljem da pobijede selekciju Bosne i Hercegovine u polufinalu i izbore plasman u finale baraža za plasman na Evropsko prvenstvo.
Fudbaleri Sjeverne Irske sinoć su na stadionu Grbavica prošetali terenom kako bi vidjeli u kakvim uvjetima će igrati današnji meč, ali nisu održali trening.
Selektor Baraclough je na konferenciji za novinare kazao da je sretan što će se ova utakmica konačno odigrati, s obzirom da je meč odgađan od marta zbog pandemije COVID-19.
“Imali smo dobre pripreme i dovoljno vremena da se spremimo i mislim da smo ušli u ovu fazu s dosta samopouzdanja. Obišli smo teren i možemo reći da smo zadovoljni u kakvom je stanju“, kazao je Baraclough.
Baraclough je također kazao da njegovi igrači ne smiju obraćati pažnju samo na Edina Džeku i Miralema Pjanića, već i na druge kvalitetne igrače i bh. timu.
Kapiten Sjeverne Irske Steven Davis istakao je kako on i njegovi saigrači imaju snagu, a da ona leži u timskom duhu.
“Znamo snagu reprezentacija BiH, ali na nama je da pokažemo koliko možemo i naravno, uvijek moramo pronaći način da napredujemo”, kazao je Davis.
Reprezentacija BiH će u četvrtak s početkom u 20.45 sati na Grbavici ugostiti Sjevernu Irsku u polufinalu play-offa za plasman na EURO. Pobjednik će se plasirati u finale u kojem će u novembru ugostiti boljeg iz duela Slovačka – Republika Irska.
