Obje ekipe imaju maksimalan učinak na smotri najboljih timova Starog kontinenta. Rusija do sada rivalima nije prepustila niti jedan set, dok je BiH izgubila jedan set u polufinalu protiv Njemačke.
BiH je u polufinalnom duelu savladala Njemačku sa 3:1, dok je Rusija bila bolja od Ukrajine rezultatom 3:0.
Bosna i Hercegovina lovi deseto evropsko zlato. Odbojkaši BiH najsjajnije odličje na prvenstvima Evrope osvajali su devet puta, jednom su bili viceprvaci, a dva puta su se oktili bronzanom medaljom.
