Bill Gates o budućnosti pandemije: Covid bi se uskoro mogao tretirati kao gripa
Bill Gates je na Twitteru razgovarao s profesoricom Devi Sridhar o stanju s koronavirusom. U seriji više tvitova rekao je kako ćemo se možda morati cijepiti svake godine, ali i da bi se korona uskoro mogla tretirati kao “sezonalna gripa”.
Profesorica Sridhar sa Sveučilišta u Edinburghu putem Twittera postavila je seriju pitanja Billu Gatesu. Pitanja su poslali njezini pratitelji.
O omikronu
Gates navodi kako je omikron izazov za zdravstvene sustave diljem svijete te da će najteži slučajevi zaraze biti kod necijepljenih.
“Međutim, kad omikron prođe nekom zemljom, slučajevi će nestati i covid će se moći tretirati kao sezonska gripa”, rekao je Gates i dodao da će omikron stvoriti dobar imunitet barem za iduću godinu i da je malo vjerojatno da će doći do zaraznijeg soja koronavirusa. Ipak, rekao je, u to ne možemo biti sigurni.
O budućnosti cijepljenja
Gates se osvrnuo na trenutne probleme s cjepivima protiv COVID-19 rekavši da, iako sprječavaju teške posljedice koronavirusa, pa čak i smrt, postoje dvije važne stvari na kojima treba raditi.
Ono što se sada događa je da se čak i potpuno cijepljeni ljudi ponovno zaraze novim i jačim varijantama virusa koji se pojavljuju, a trajanje je još uvijek vrlo ograničeno.
