Američki milijarder smatra da bi situacija mogla popraviti zbog cjepiva, lijekova i prirodnog imuniteta
“Smrti od covida i postotak zaraženih mogli bi do sredine iduće godine pasti na razine niže od one koju svake godine ima gripa. Dakako, ako se u međuvremenu ne pojave novi opasni sojevi virusa”, smatra milijarder Bill Gates.
S obzirom na prirodni imunitet i onaj izazvan cjepivom te pojavu lijekova “stopa smrtnosti i obolijevanja trebala bi se dramatično smanjiti”, izjavio je Gates, koji gostuje na Bloombergovu forumu Nova ekonomija u Singapuru.
Ograničenja s kojima se suočava kampanja cijepljenje protiv covida-19 prevladat će se 2022., smatra Gates, budući da se rješavaju problemi s ponudom.
“Cjepiva su jako dobra vijest, a ograničenja u ponudi će se uvelike riješiti do sredine 2022. godine. Tada ćemo u cijepljenju biti limitirani logistikom distribucije i potražnjom”, rekao je Gates Bloombergu.
Za mnoge zemlje, kaže Gates, još se ne zna kolika će biti potražnja, a to se pogotovo odnosi na područja poput supsaharske Afrike. Dodao je da bi svijet trebao raditi i na iskorjenjivanju gripe kako bi smanjio prijetnju budućih pandemija.
Mišljenje ovog milijardera o globalnoj zarazi izaziva više zanimanja od mišljenja njegovih prebogatih kolega jer se Gates silno angažirao u borbi protiv pandemije, a i prije nego što je počela upozoravao je da bi se svijet u budućnosti mogao naći pod takvim udarcem. Gates je donirao sredstva za razvoj cjepiva, a zbog svega se u taboru protivnika cjepiva moglo čuti da je pandemija zapravo izmišljena. Gates se našao i na meti teorija urote da cijepljenje ima druge ciljeve, a ne obuzdavanje pandemije.
Gates smatra da su dosadašnji napori rezultirali time da će covid biti manje opasan od gripe. Prema Svjetskoj zdravstvenoj organizaciji, gripa ubija oko 650.000 ljudi svake godine. Najmanje pet milijuna umrlo je od covida-19 otkad je pandemija počela krajem 2019.
