Christian Schmidt: Gotovo je s mijenjanjem granica i novim državama na Balkanu
Novoimenovani visoki predstavnik za Bosnu i Hercegovinu Christian Schmidt sudjelovao je na 14. Dubrovnik forumu na panelu “Međunarodna zajednica i Zapadni Balkan: Kako okončati karantin?”.
U svom govoru Schmidt je poručio kako je za ozbiljniji napredak šest država Zapadnog Balkana prema Evropskoj uniji potrebno ukloniti nesuglasice i prepreke koje postoje među državama.
Članstvo Bosne i Hercegovine u Evropskoj uniji treba ostati na političkoj agendi, koja je izgubila na snazi u proteklim godinama, i sada je vrijeme da to pitanje vratimo u politički fokus kako bi u narednim godinama uočili rezultate, rekao je Schmidt.
– Kada pogledamo BiH, vidimo da unutrašnji problem koji postoji nije između većine i manjine, nego problem između tri konstitutivna naroda, te ostalih. Kada iz današnje perspektive pogledamo Dejtonski sporazum, vidimo da bi se neki njegovi dijelovi mogli sročiti drugačije, no danas imamo Sporazum kakav je. Onima koji i danas gaje fantazije kako bi bilo dobro mijenjati granice ili stvoriti nove države, kažem da je gotovo – kazao je Schmidt.
On je naglasio kako je Evropskoj uniji ključno pitanje treba li zadržati šest država Zapadnog Balkana na okupu te među njima provesti djelomične integracijske procese koji bi mogli dovesti i do tzv. velikog Schengena.
Postoji komparativna prednost u bivanju članom evropskih integracija, što se može oprimjeriti na programu COVAX, kazao je.
– Sjedinjene Američke Države su u prošlosti u kritičnim trenucima napravili puno za Zapadni Balkan, nekada više nego Evropljani, kojima je trebalo više vremena za shvatiti što treba napraviti – dodao je Schmidt.
Posebno je upozorio na važnost ulaganja u mlađe generacije kroz obrazovanje, jer imaju potencijal ubrzavanja procesa pomirenja, kako u BiH tako u cijeloj regiji.
