Ćiro – industrijsko naslijeđe i simbol grada Banovića
Prva pruga u Bosni i Hercegovini je puštena u saobraćaj 24. decembra 1872. godine, na relaciji Dobrljin – Banja Luka. Ipak, promet je obustavljen već 1875. godine nakon izbijanja Hercegovačkog ustanka. Dolaskom austrougarske vlasti 1878. godine počinje užurbani proces izgradnje novog željezničkog saobraćaja u cilju efikasnijeg izvlačenja rudnog bogatstva BiH. Parne lokomotive koje su korištene tokom austrougarske vladavine i početkom Kraljevine Srba, Hrvata i Slovenaca, polahko izlaze iz upotrebe tokom tridesetih godina XX stoljeća, kada je Mehmed Spaho, tadašnji ministar saobraćaja u Kraljevini Jugoslaviji, insistirao na uvođenju motornih vozova na prostoru BiH. Prvi takav voz je pušten u upotrebu 1938. godine na relaciji Beograd – Sarajevo – Dubrovnik. Nakon stotinu godine, tačnije 1. avgusta 1978. godine na našim prostorima prestaje upotreba uzanih vozova, a time su ukinute i uzane pruge. Samim time isčezava i upotreba parnih lokomotiva koje su predstavljale simbol bosanskih pruga. Do danas su očuvane parnjače u Travniku, Jablanici, nekoliko vagona u Bileći, dok su lokomotive sačuvane i u Prijedoru, Doboju, Gračanici, Tuzli i Višegradu, a postoji i Titov voz na Oštrelju u Bosanskoj krajini. Međutim, jedina koja i danas vozi jeste parnjača u Banovićima kojom se prevozi ruda iz tamnošnjih rudnika te šumska građa.
Uskotračne pruge na području Banovića su bile dio industrijske pruge koja se uvezivala sa dijelom pruge Doboj – Tuzla – Simin Han. Otvaranjem Rudnika uglja “Begov potok” u Omazićima kod Banovića 1937. godine, izgrađen je jedan krak pruge uskog kolosijeka od rudnika u Omazićima do separacije za ugalj u blizini pruge u Živinicama, dužine 11 kilometara. Pruga je išla od “Begovog potoka” preko Živinica do Bukinja, gdje se vršio pretovar uglja u vagone državne željeznice. Posjedovali su dvije lokomotive sa desetinama vagona za prijevoz uglja. Nakon omladinske radne akcije 1946. godine izgrađena je pruga normalnog kolosijeka od Brčkog do Banovića. Pruga nije došla do samog grada Banovića, nego do stanice u Oskovi. Ovakva pruga imala je velii ekonomski i međunarodni značaj za Banoviće. Također, postojao je i krak stare šumske pruge koja ide prema Zlači dolinom rijeke Oskove a zatim i uz rijeku Krabanju. Od nje se odvajao krak uz rijeku Suhu. Ova pruga je korištena u periodu austrougarske uprave radi izvlačenja šumske građe iz Konjuha. Danas se ugalj u Banovićima dovozi uskotračnom prugom i posipa bunkere. Veza se ostvaruje u stanici Banovići, ali ne direktno.
