Izraelski premijer Naftali Bennett susreo se s ruskim predsjednikom Vladimirom Putinom u Kremlju u subotu kako bi razgovarali o ratu u Ukrajini, a kasnije je telefonom razgovarao i s ukrajinskim predsjednikom Volodimirom Zelenskijem, rekao je Bennettov glasnogovornik.
Bennett se prema krizi odnosi u suglasju sa Sjedinjenim Američkim Državama, Francuskom i Njemačkom, rekao je jedan izraelski dužnosnik.
Nakon sastanka s Putinom, Bennett se zaputio u Berlin radi razgovara s njemačkim kancelarom Olafom Scholzom, poručio je njegov glasnogovornik.
Francuski predsjednik Emmanuel Macron razgovarao je s Bennettom prije nego što je otputovao u Moskvu kako bi ga obavijestio o svojim prethodnim razgovorima s Putinom, poručeno je iz Pariza.
“Ostat će u kontaktu s ciljem postizanja primirja, i to u koordinaciji s njemačkim kancelarom Olafom Scholzom”, rekao je francuski dužnosnik.
Izrael se na zahtjev Zelenskija ponudio kao posrednik u sukobu između Ukrajine i Rusije premda su dužnosnici ranije isključili mogućnost bilo kakvog napretka u pregovorima.
Bennett se u svom trosatnom sastanku s Putinom u Kremlju također dotakao pitanja velike židovske zajednice koja se zatekla u ratu u Ukrajini.
Dvojica vođa su se bavili i obnavljanjem nuklearnog sporazuma s Iranom iz 2015. godine.
Rusija je u subotu rekla da su zapadne sankcije koje su joj nametnute zbog invazije na Ukrajinu postale prepreka za nuklearni sporazum s Iranom.
Izrael se protivi bilo kakvom obnavljanju tog sporazuma.
Premda je Izrael, blizak saveznik SAD-a, osudio rusku invaziju i izrazio solidarnost s Kijevom poslavši mu humanitarnu pomoć, također je poručio da će nastaviti komunicirati s Moskvom u nadi da će pomoći ublažavanju krize.
Izrael, koji je dom značajne zajednice imigranata iz bivšeg Sovjetskog Saveza, također je svjestan ruske vojne podrške Bašaru al-Asadu, predsjedniku susjedne Sirije, gdje Izrael redovito gađa vojne mete Irana i Hezbollaha. Komunikacija s Moskvom sprečava nenamjerno uzajamno nanošenje štete između izraelskih i ruskih snaga.
Bennett je letio na židovski blagdan šabat, što inače krši pravila židovske vjere, no dozvoljeno je ako je sa svrhom očuvanje ljudskog života, rekao je njegov glasnogovornik.
