Erdogan i Biden za jačanje odnosa Turske i SAD-a
Na sastanku predsjednika Republike Turske Recepa Tayyipa Erdogana i predsjednika Sjedinjenih Američkih Država (SAD) Joea Bidena u Rimu je postignuta suglasnost o uspostavljanju zajedničkog mehanizma za jačanje i razvoj odnosa između dvije zemlje.
Dvojica lidera sastala su se na marginama samita grupe G20 u Rimu, a iz Direkcije za komunikacije pri uredu turskog predsjednika saopćeno je da je susret protekao u pozitivnoj atmosferi i da je razgovarano o bilateralnim odnosima i regionalnim temama.
Tokom razgovora Erdogana i Bidena naglasak je stavljen na NATO savezništvo i strateško partnerstvo te je izraženo obostrano zadovoljstvo zajedničkim koracima u vezi sa klimatskim promjena.
Turski i američki predsjednici Erdogan i Biden su razgovarali i koje korake treba poduzeti u skladu sa zajedničkom perspektivom s ciljem povećanja obima bilateralne trgovinske razmjene.
Biden je na sastanku s Erdoganom u Rimu istakao neophodnost nastavka konstruktivnih bilateralnih odnosa, širenja polja saradnje i efikasnog prevazilaženja nesuglasica. Iz Bijele kuće saopćeno je da je Biden istako da je hvale vrijedan doprinos koji je Turska blizu 20 godina pružala misiji NATO-a u Afganistanu.
U saopćenju iz Washingtona se navodi da je tokom sastanka razgovarano o političkom procesu u Siriji, isporuci humanitarne pomoći narodu Afganistana, budućim izborima u Libiji, situaciji u istočnom Mediteranu i diplomatskim naporima na jugu Kavkaza.
Saopćeno je da je američki predsjednik Biden potvrdio saradnju dvije zemlje u oblasti odbrane i značaj Turske kao članice NATO-a te da je izrazio zabrinutost zbog turske nabavke ruskog odbrambenog sistema S-400.
Biden je također naglasio važnost jakih demokratskih institucija, poštovanja ljudskih prava i vladavine prava za mir i prosperitet.
