Gideon Greif priznao grešku: U Srebrenici ubijeno 8.000 Bošnjaka
Izraelski historičar i predsjednik komisije Vlade RS koja je sačinila kontroverzni izvještaj o stradanjima u Srebrenici, Gideon Grief je izjavio za Haaretz da planira da objavi “pojašnjenje” tog izvještaja, no njegovi kritičari smatraju da on samo pokušava da spasi svoju narušenu reputaciju.
“Objavićemo pojašnjenje izvještaja u narednim sedmicama”, rekao je Greif za Haaretz u utorak, te dodao da će novi dokument predstavljati odgovor kritičarima koji su ga označili kao revizionistu.
Autor Sam Sokol navodi da je godine 2019. Vlada entiteta Republike Srpske pozvala Greifa da predvodi komisiju koja je sastavila izvještaj o masovnom ubistvu 8.000 Bošnjaka od snaga bosanskih Srba u Srebrenici u julu 1995. Godine.
Njegovi nalazi, objavljeni prošlog ljeta, naširoko su kritikovani od naučnika, pri čemu je većina primjedbi se odnosila na njegove tvrdnje da masakr nije predstavljao čin genocida i da je značajan broj posmrtnih ostataka ekshumiranih iz masovnih grobnica pripadao ljudima koji su ubijeni van konteksta tog zločina, objašnjava Sokol.
On navodi intervju Greifa iz prošle godine u kojem je rekao da broj žrtava “ne prelazi 3.714” dok su u izvještaju citirane procjene da je broj umrlih blizu 3.900. Međutim, Grief sada naziva to greškom, piše Sokol.
“Nismo umanjili ni jednu žrtvu. Baš ni jednu žrtvu”, rekao je Greif za Haaretz. “To je bila moja lična greška pa ćemo to ispraviti da objavimo istinu i mislim da će se ova kontroverza oko komisije značajno smanjiti.”
Međutim, na pitanje o planiranim promjenama, Greif je insistirao da se neće mnogo mjenjati “jer nema greške u broju.”
“Ovo je broj koji se spominje od početka pa nadalje, nije bilo drugačije: oko 8.000. I mi to ne iskrivljujemo; mi to prihvatamo. Naravno, mi osuđujemo zločine. A mi ćemo to učiniti još snažnije u našem pojašnjenju,” rekao je Greif.
Sokol u svome članku prepoznaje da djeluje da Greifovi najnoviji komentari o broju poginulih “izgledaju u suprotnosti s izvještajem, u kojem se tvrdi da su neki od ubijenih bili pogubljeni vojnici, a ne civili.”
“Teško je sa bilo kakvom preciznošću znati koliko je ljudi ubijeno nakon pada Srebrenice i nekoliko dana nakon toga”, navodi se u izvještaju.
Profesorica Jelena Subotić, politikolog sa Georgia State University, za Haaretz je rekla da je pročitala Greifov izvještaj, te je dovela u pitanje Greifov “preokret”.
“U izvještaju se konkretno, bez sumnje, tvrdi da je broj od 8.000 žrtava netačan”, rekla je ona.
“Jasno je da je njegovo sadašnje povlačenje rezultat teškog udara na reputaciju koju su pretrpjeli autori izvještaja. Ali to ne mijenja sadržaj izvještaja i njegovu revizionističku prirodu. Sam izvještaj je tu i svi ga mogu vidjeti”, rekla je ona.
Autor navodi da Greifova najava dolazi samo nekoliko sedmica nakon što je Njemačka odlučila da mu ne dodjeli nagradu za njegovo istraživanje Holokausta nakon njegovog rada na poziv Republike Srpske.
Greifov advokat i član komisije koja je sačinila izvještaj, Markus Goldbach, rekao je da je Greif nedavno posjetio Banja Luku kako bi razgovarao sa rukovodstvom RS o ovom pitanju.
“Nakon što smo pregledali kritike i bili upoznati sa člancima koji su objavljeni, smatrali smo da je kritika bila nepravedna jer nismo imali loše namjere; nismo imali namjeru da iskrivimo historiju, nismo imali namjeru da počinioce oslobodimo krivice”, rekao je Greif.
“Ne mijenjamo ništa. Stojimo iza našeg izvještaja, ali ćemo stvari dodatno pojasniti za javnost,” dodao je.
Menachem Rosensaft, izvršni potpredsjednik Svjetskog jevrejskog kongresa, vjeruje da Greifov novi izvještaj neće promijeniti percepciju historičara.
“Njegovo obećanje ili prijetnja da će on i njegova nesrećna komisija izdati revidirani izvještaj čini mi se prilično očajničkim pokušajem kontrole štete. Sve u svemu, da sam na mjestu Milorada Dodika, tražio bih povrat novca”, rekao je Rosensaft.
“Nikakva prevara ili smicalica s njegove strane ne mogu promijeniti fundamentalnu činjenicu da su parametri zločina genocida navedeni u Konvenciji o genocidu i da su ih uzastopni sudovi više puta i dosljedno primjenjivali na Srebrenicu”, dodao je on.
Ministrica vanjskih poslova BiH Bisera Turkovic je u izjavi za Haaretz rekla da je “genocid u Srebrenici utvrđen presudama međunarodnih sudova: Međunarodnog krivičnog suda za bivšu Jugoslaviju i Međunarodnog suda pravde. Svako poricanje, relativiziranje ili pogrešno tumačenje genocida mora biti osuđeno.”
Također je izjavila da će BiH podržati izraelsku inicijativu za rezoluciju protiv poricanja holokausta na Generalnoj skupštini UN-a.
