Slijedeći ‘bratski’ model X5, novi X6 također je baziran na novoj BMW-ovoj platformi CLAR, a od prethodne generacije sada je 26 milimetara duži i šest niži, a u unutrašnjosti znatno prostraniji. Zašto? Upravo zbog 42 milimetra dužega međuosovinskog razmaka, koji omogućava puno više mjesta za putnike te prtljažnik čiji je obujam od 580 do 1530 litara.
Od modernih tehnologija kakve smo već vidjeli u seriji 7 ili u modelima X5 i X7, tu su zračni aktivni ovjes, sustav aktivnog upravljanja, serijska LED svjetla (u opciji dostupna i laserska) i moderan BMW-ov infotainment s dvama ekranima s dijagonalom 12,3 inča. No ono što plijeni najviše pažnje je nova velika prednja maska, koja je BMW-u posljednjih mjeseci donijela toliko kontroverzi, ali i popularnosti. Na novome X6 ona čak i svijetli noću. E to još nismo vidjeli ni na jednom autu dosad…
Novi X6 ima i nov head-up displej i sustav iDrive 7.0 s upravljanjem glasovnim naredbama i gestama raznim funkcijama u automobilu. Od dodatne opreme koja se nudi u novoj X6-ici su audiosustav Bowers & Wilkins Diamond 3D, ambijentalno osvjetljenje, panoramski krov, najbolja koža Merino i aluminijski kotači s promjerom od 19 do 22 inča.
BMW naravno kupcima nudi i paket M Sport, koji će uključiti sportske branike i pragove, kotače, zatamnjena stakla, jače kočnice i glasniji ispušni sustav, kao i sportski upravljač i sjedala.
U početnoj ponudi su četiri motora, dva benzinska i dva dizelska. Početni dizelaš (xDrive 30d) razvija 265 KS i 620 Nm, što mu je dovoljno za ubrzanje do 100 km/h u 6,5 sekundi i maksimalnu brzinu 230 km/h. A početni benzinac (xDrive 40i) ima 340 KS i 450 Nm momenta te ubrzanje do ‘stotke’ u 5,5 sekundi i maksimalnu brzinu 250 km/h.
