Joe Biden o presudi Mladiću: Dokaz da će oni koji čine zločine biti odgovorni
“Prije gotovo dvadeset šest godina, Ratko Mladić naredio je pogubljenje po prijekom postupku oko 8.000 nenaoružanih muškaraca i dječaka u Srebrenici. Također je vodio brutalnu višegodišnju opsadu Sarajeva i bio je odgovoran za mnoge druge zločine”, navodi u svojoj reakciji na današnju presudu Ratku Mladiću, predsjednik SAD-a Joe Biden.
“Međunarodni rezidualni mehanizam Ujedinjenih nacija za krivične sudove u Hagu potvrdio je danas njegovu osudu za genocid, zločine protiv čovječnosti i ratne zločine. Ova povijesna presuda pokazuje da će oni koji čine stravične zločine biti odgovorni.
Takođe pojačava našu zajedničku odlučnost da spriječimo da se buduća zvjerstva počnu bilo gdje u svijetu”, navodi Biden u reakciji na presudu.
Kako je naveo Biden, pravda i pomirenje su temelj mira za stabilnost.
“Sjedinjene Države pomogle su voditi međunarodne napore da se okončaju zločini u Bosni i Hercegovini, privedu pravdi oni koji su počinili zločine tamo i u drugim dijelovima bivše Jugoslavije i uspostavi trajni mir u toj zemlji i široj regiji. Zahvalni smo na neumornom radu tribunala UN-a tokom protekle dvije decenije na slučajevima vezanim za sukob na Balkanu i svima onima čija je posvećenost omogućila ovu presudu.
Pravda i pomirenje temelj su mira i stabilnosti za budućnost, a današnja odluka također je važna potvrda da je to moguće. Iskreno se nadam da će lideri u regionu poštovati ovu presudu i pojačati njen značaj za vladavinu zakona“.
“Moje današnje misli su sa svim preživjelim porodicama mnogih žrtava Mladićevih zločina. Nikada ne možemo izbrisati tragediju njihove smrti, ali nadam se da će današnja presuda pružiti utjehu svima koji tuguju”, zaključio je predsjednik SAD.
Reakcija Ambasade SAD-a u Sarajevu
Američka ambasada u BiH pozdravila je današnju odluku Žalbenog vijeća Međunarodnog rezidualnog mehanizma Ujedinjenih nacija za krivične sudove kojom se potvrđuje osuđujuća presuda za Ratka Mladića.
