Johnson danas u posjeti Ukrajini, poziva Rusiju na povlačenje
Britanski premijer Boris Johnson posjetit će danas Ukrajinu u sklopu diplomatskih napora za odvraćanje moguće invazije Rusije na tu zemlju.
Johnson će se sastati s ukrajinskim predsjednikom Volodimirom Zelenskijem kako bi razgovarali o desecima hiljada ruskih vojnika okupljenih blizu ukrajinske granice, a za koje se Zapad boji da se pripremaju za invaziju.
Kako je navedeno u priopćenju ureda britanskog premijera, sa Zelenskijem će razgovarati o strateškoj podršci koju Britanija može ponuditi Ukrajini.
Sjedinjene Države, Europska unija i Britanija kažu da Rusija ima sposobnost djelovati protiv Ukrajine, a Johnson je upozorio na katastrofu ako Moskva to učini.
“Pozivamo Rusiju da se povuče i uključi u dijalog kako bi se pronašlo diplomatsko rješenje i izbjeglo daljnje krvoproliće”, rekao je Johnson uoči dolaska u Ukrajinu.
“Pravo je svakog Ukrajinca da odredi kako se njime vlada. Kao prijatelj i demokratski partner, Velika Britanija će nastaviti podržavati suverenitet Ukrajine pred onima koji ga žele uništiti”, poručio je Johnson.
Johnsonov posjet odražava njegovu želju da pozicionira Britaniju kao igrača u međunarodnim odnosima, čak i dok se kod kuće nosi s političkim skandalom zbog više okupljanja i proslava u Downing Streetu tijekom karantene, što bi ga možda moglo prisiliti i na odstupanje s dužnosti, piše Reuters.
Britanija je u ponedjeljak poručila da bi svaka ruska akcija protiv Ukrajine pokrenula sankcije bez presedana protiv ruskih tvrtki i ljudi blisko povezanih s Kremljom.
Pritom, planira se ciljati na najbogatije ljude Rusije, što bi između ostalog uključivalo i mogućnost zamrzavanja njihove imovine.
Inače, Britanija je isporučila Ukrajini obrambeno oružje i osoblje za obuku, iako su ministri rekli da je razmještaj borbenih postrojbi malo vjerovatan.
