“Tu priliku ne smijemo propustiti. Moramo to uraditi zbog žrtava i zbog budućnosti naše djece. Očito je da se političke elite same ne mogu dogovoriti oko onoga što se dešavalo devedesetih. One same nisu preuzele političku niti moralnu odgovornost za ono što se dešavalo i nisu dovele do povratka povjerenja. Zato nam trebaju strani arbitri, a mi vidimo da osim suda u Hagu nemamo nekoga ko bi nam pomogao da dođemo do zajedničke istine, istine bez koje nema pomirenja.
Ne možemo učiti iz naših grešaka ako tvrdimo da ih nije bilo. Zato još jednom apelujem na sve da ne poistovjećuju čitave narode sa djelima zločinaca i politika koje su nas dijelile i stvarale etnički «čiste» prostore. Tim politikama se ovih dana sudi, ne narodima. Ali se i narodi, zajedno sa svojim elitama, jasno od njih moraju distancirati.
Historijsku priliku moramo iskoristiti, uzeti pouku iz prošlosti i okrenuti se budućnosti, uvijek u prvi plan stavljajući žrtve, a ne njihove dželate”, kazao je danas reisu-l-ulema Kavazović.
