New York poplavljen, raste broj žrtava, pogledajte nestvarne scene iz blokiranog grada

Najmanje 22 osobe, među njima i dvogodišnji dječak, poginulo je u katastrofalnim poplavama koje su u američkim saveznim državama New Yorku i New Jerseyju izazvali “ostaci” uragana Ida koji je ranije ovog tjedna pogodio Louisianu.
Bujične poplave nanijele su i ogromnu materijalnu štetu: na društvenim mrežama šire se fotografije automobila koje je odnijela voda, ali i potopljenih linija podzemne željeznice. Zbog nevremena je na području New Yorka i New Jerseyja otkazano i stotine letova.
Gradonačelnik New York Cityja Bill de Blasio opisao je poplave kao “povijesne”, a Nacionalna meteorološka služba prvi je put u svojoj povijesti izdala upozorenje za bujične poplave u tom gradu.
Guverneri država New York i New Jersey su proglasili izvanredno stanje u svojim državama te poručili stanovnicima da ne napuštaju svoje domove. Istovremeno, radnici pokušavaju očistiti ceste i ponovno uspostaviti linije podzemne željeznice u gradu New Yorku, piše Reuters.
“Ostaci” uragana Ida na sjeverozapadu SAD-a prouzročili su ogromne kiše pa je tako na Manhattanu u samo sat vremena palo rekordnih 8 cm kiše.
– Moja ulica trenutno izgleda kao jezero, rekla je za Reuters 64-godišnja Lucinda Mercer iz Hobokena, New Jersey. Gospođa Mercer poručila je i da su u njenom kvartu bujice preplavile parkirane automobile.
Prijevoz najviše otežava činjenica da podzemna željeznica radi u vrlo limitiranom kapacitetu, a linije prema sjevernim dijelovima New Yorka potpuno su zatvorene.
Koliko je situacija ozbiljna pokazuju i snimke s društvenih mreža na kojima se vide ogromne količine vode kako naviru u jednu stanicu podzemne željeznice.
Mark Haley iz New Jerseyja za Reuters je ispričao kako se inače 15-minutna vožnja od kuglane do njegovog doma pretvorila u šesterosatnu kalvariju tijekom koje je nekoliko puta mislio da će ostati zarobljen usred poplava.
– Kada smo izašli iz kuglane, vani nas je dočekala ratna zona, rekao je Haley kojeg je u njegovom podrumu dočekalo nešto više od pola metra vode.
Zbog velikog nevremena poremećen je i promet na širem području Sjeverozapada SAD-a pa je tako suspendiran prijevoz na željeznici koja povezuje Atlantic City i Philadelphiju, ali i na čuvenoj Amtrak liniji koja povezuje Philadelphiju i Boston.
U pet saveznih država je pak više od 200.000 kućanstava ostalo bez struje, najviše njih u Pennsylvaniji i New Jerseyju.
