Francuski policajci ispalili su u subotu u Parizu suzavac i šok granate za vrijeme prosvjeda protiv policijskog nasilja nakon što su ih maskirani prosvjednici napali pirotehnikom, kamenjem i podigli barikade.
Većina od tisuća prosvjednika prosvjedovala je mirno, ali nekoliko manjih skupina sukobilo se s policijom.
Dva automobila, motocikl i građevinski materijal zapaljeni su.
Tisuće ljudi prosvjedovale su i u Lilleu, Rennesu, Strasbourgu i drugim gradovima.
Prosvjedi su uslijedili nakon što su ovaj tjedan objavljene snimke sigurnosnih kamera na kojima se vidi kako su trojica policajaca u Parizu 21. studenoga pretukla crnog glazbenog producenta Michela Zeclera.
Incident je raspirio nezadovoljstvo i zbog prijedloga zakona koji bi mogao ograničiti prava novinara da izvješćuju o policijskoj brutalnosti.
Tim bi se zakonom ograničila mogućnost snimanja policajaca dok obavljaju svoje dužnosti.
Organizacijama novinara i skupinama za građanske slobode koji su organizirali prosvjede pridružili su se krajnje lijevi militanti, ekološki aktivisti i prosvjednici pokreta „žutih prsluka”, koji prosvjeduju protiv vlade već dvije godine.
