Uoči posjete BiH, administratorica Američke agencije za međunarodni razvoj (USAID) Samantha Power razgovarala je sa visokim predstavnikom Christianom Schmidtom 14. januara 2022.

Razgovarano je o trenutnoj političkoj krizi u zemlji, važnosti poduzimanja napora u cilju deeskalacije i pomirenja, kao i potrebi osnaživanja onih koji se bore protiv korupcije i rade na stvaranju ekonomskih prilika za mlade ljude.

Administratorica je potvrdila podršku SAD-a Visokom predstavniku i njegovoj nadležnosti u primjeni svih neophodnih ovlasti, uključujući Bonske ovlasti, do potpune provedbe Agende 5+2 i sve dok BiH ne ispuni kriterije za funkcionisanje bez međunarodne supervizije.

Saglasili su se da prosperitetna budućnost BiH zavisi od političkih lidera i građana koji trebaju uložiti zajedničke napore kako bi proveli reforme neophodne za ostvarivanje demokratskih i ekonomskih težnji Bosne i Hercegovine.

Administratorica i Visoki predstavnik dogovorili su se da nastave intenzivnu komunikaciju po pitanju trenutne političke situacije, te osiguravanja potpune provedbe Agende 5+2.

Samantha Power posjetit će Bosnu i Hercegovinu u periodu od 19. do 21. januara.
