Reporteri bez granica: Sloboda medija u sve većoj opasnosti
U 2018. godini 63 novinara je izgubilo život dok su obavljali posao, a sloboda medija je u sve većoj opasnosti, pokazuju izvještaji Komiteta za zaštitu novinara i Reportera bez granica.
Obje organizacije upozoravaju da je u ovoj godini porastao i broj novinara koji su oteti ili uhapšeni dok su obavljali svoj posao, prenosi Tanjug.
Devetoro novinara poginulo je u napadu bombaša samoubice grupe Islamska država Irak i Levant u Afganistanu u aprilu, koji se sam predstavljao kao novinar.
U redakciju dnevnika Capital Gazette u Marylandu, u junu je upao naoružani muškarac i ubio petoro lokalnih novinara. Kolumnista Washington posta Jamal Khashohgi ubijen je u konzulatu Saudijske Arabije u Turskoj u oktobru.
Od kidnapiranja i ubistava, do privođenja, prijetnje novinarima sve su češće, a eksperti kažu da je vrijeme za uzbunu.
“Novinari u demokratskim zemljama su ugroženi, pa i reporteri u zemljama bez konflikta plaćaju danak za svoje izvještavanje”, kaže Margaux Ewen iz Reportera bez granica.
Ubijeni novinari
Podaci ove organizacije pokazuju da je najmanje 63 novinara ubijeno u 2018. godini, a najopasnije zemlje za novinare su Afganistan, Sirija i Meksiko.
Hapšenja novinara su također u porastu. Komitet za zaštitu novinara navodi da je u Kini, Turskoj i Egiptu uhapšena polovina od ukupnog broja novinara koji su u zatvoru. Zatvorske kazne u trajanju od sedam godina izrečene su reporterima Reutersa u Mijanmaru.
“Oni su otkrili ratni zločin. Onda su uhapšeni, optuženi da su ukrali dokumenta, što nije tačno, i u namještenom sudskom procesu, osuđeni. To su novinari koji su u svojoj zemlji, izvještavajući o svojoj vladi, upali u nevolju”, kaže Robert Mahony iz Komiteta za zaštitu novinara.
I retorika predsjednika SAD-a Donalda Trumpa protiv medija, samo daje legitimitet i ostalim državnicima koji napadaju novinare, prenosi Glas Amerike.
“Samim etiketiranjem lažnih vijesti, on kaže da ti novinari nisu pravi, kad kaže da nisu u pravu, svrstava ih na drugu stranu historije. A kad kaže da su oni neprijatelji naroda, u stvari tvrdi da je on sam narod, a ako njega kritiziraju, kritiziraju i vas”, ocjenjuje Tom Rosenthal iz američkog Instituta za medije.
Povjerenje u medije u SAD-u je na najnižem nivou, što je za neke ilustracija globalne erozije medijskih sloboda.
Ipak ima i dobrih vesti, na primjer u Etiopiji. Otkad je novi premijer Abiy Ahmed proveo demokratske reforme, nijedan novinar nije uhapšen prvi put poslije 14 godina.
