Istraživanje je provedeno od strane programa Integrativne biomedicine i psihologije sa Univerziteta Kinesiology ove godine.
– Rezultati koje smo dobili upućuju da konzumacijom šest ili 12 šljiva u danu možemo smanjiti mogućnost upalnih procesa koji doprinose gubitku koštane mase kod žena nakon menopauze – kazao je dr. Janhavi Demani.
Demani dodaje i kako nas ova studija vodi do spoznaje kako bi suhe šljive mogle biti obećavajuća namirnica koja prevenira pojavu upale.
– Voće i povrće koje je bogato bioaktivnim sastojcima poput zdravih kiselina, flavonoida i karotenoida mogu pomoći u borbi protiv osteoporoze. Suhe šljive sadrže polifenole koji mogu smanjiti posljedice upala i oksidativnog stresa koji može doprinijeti gubitku koštane mase, a oni pak doprinose gubitku koštane mase – kaže Kelsey Sackmann, nutricionistica.

Sackman dodaje kako ovo voće može imati i dodatne dobrobiti kao što su minerali, vitamin K, fenole i dijetalna vlakna – svi neophodni za dobro zdravlje.
