“Mi sada prvi put raspoređujemo snage za odgovor NATO-a u kontekstu kolektivne odbrane,” rekao je on na konferenciji za novinare nakon virtuelnog samita.
Stoltenberg je dodao da su se zemlje članice NATO-a orjentisale na “odvraćanje i odbranu”.
“Jučer su saveznici NATO-a aktivirali naše odbrambene planove i kao rezultat roga ćemo poslati elemente snaga za odgovor NATO-a kako na zemlji, tako i na moru i vazduhu, kako bismo osnažili naše snage i odgovorili na bilo kakve hitne situacije”, rekao je Stoltenberg.
Dodao je da su SAD, Kanada i evropski saveznici poslali hiljade trupa u istočne dijelove Saveza.
“Imamo više od 100 aviona koji su spremni, na 30 lokacija. Više od 120 brodova sa Dalekog sjevera do Mediterana je spremno, uključujući nosače i udarače”, rekao je Stoltenberg.
Dodao je kako će NATO zaštiti svakog saveznika i svaki pedalj teritorije NATO-a.
“Naš kolektivni odgovor treba biti više podrške zemljama poput Gruzije, Moldavije i Bosne i Hercegovine, da bismo im pomogli da uspiju u svojim demokratskim reformama i nastavili na putu koji su slobodno odabrali”, poručio je Stoltenberg.
