Strmoglavi pad: Ivaylo Petev najgori selektor u historiji BiH!
Kada je krajem 2020. godine počelo lobiranje za nasljednika Duška Bajevića, grupa poltrona okupljena oko Vice Zeljkovića kao novog selektora predstavili su Ivayla Peteva.

Petev se, kako “kažu” brojke, promovisao u najgoreg selektora u historiji BiH, odnosno trenera koji je u dosadašnjih 13 kvalifikacionih ciklusa osvojio najmanje bodova.
Jedna pobjeda, četiri remija i tri poraza dovoljno je za sedam bodova. I to je strahoviti pad u odnosu na protekle godine. Skoro duplo manje bodova u odnosu na kvalifkacije za EURO 2020, a koje su ocijenjene kao neuspješne! Odnosno po deset bodova manje od dva ciklusa prije toga…
Uz najmanje osvojenih bodova, ostat će upisano da je Petev selektor pod čijom palicom su Zmajevi ostvarili najmanje pobjeda u jednom kvalifikacionom ciklusu – samo jednu protiv Kazahstana.
Kada su u pitanju osvojeni bodovi, bugarski strateg opasnu konkurenciju imao je u ciklusima za svjetska prvenstva 1998. i 2002. godine, kada je naš tim osvajao devet, odnosno osam bodova.
U svim preostalim ciklusima, bilo da se radilo o borbama za evropska ili svjetska prvenstva osvajali smo dvocifren broj bodova.
Zmajevi su u ovom ciklusu ispisali još jednu crnu statistiku. Protiv autsajdera iz naše grupe “prosuli su” unaprijed upisane bodove. A to se dogodilo prvi put u posljednju 21 godinu.
Posljednji put A tim BiH nije uspio savladati najlošiju ekipu iz naše grupe davne 1999. godine. Bilo je to 9. juna 1999. godine u Toftiru, gdje je BiH remizirala protiv Farskih Ostrva odigravši 2:2.
Na klupi našeg tima tada je sjedio Faruk Hadžibegić, a oba gola postigao je Elvir Bolić. Sada su nam bodove otkinuli Kazahstanci.

Evropsko prvenstvo 2012: 6 pobjeda; 20 bodova – plasman u baraž
Svjetsko prvenstvo 2014: 8 pobjeda; 25 bodova – plasman na Mundijal
Evropsko prvenstvo 2016: 5 pobjeda; 17 bodova – plasman u baraž
Svjetsko prvenstvo 2018: 5 pobjeda; 17 bodova
Evropsko prvenstvo 2020: 4 pobjede; 13 bodova
