Sviračka džamija-najstarija sačuvana građevina u našem gradu
Ova džamija je locirana na jugoistoćnoj periferiji grada, u mahali Svirac, po čemu je i dobila ime Sviračka džamija. Kada je sagrađena i ko je njen osnivač, za sada nema pouzdanih podataka.
Predpostavlja se da je neko od članova iz porodice Gradaščevića i da je to bilo prije nego što je Osman-kapetan Gradaščević podigao u Svircu medresu na lokaciji neposredno uz džamiju. Da je već u vrijeme Osman-kapetana na tom mjestu postojala džamija, može se zaključiti iz činjenice što je on, u isito vrijeme u Gračanici sagradio i džamiju i medresu.
Logično bi bilo da je i u svom rodnom mjestu pored medrese sagradio i džamiju, da ona od renije već tu nije postojala.
Za Sviračku džamiju se pouzdano zna da je starija od svih drugih džamija u Gradačcu, a ima i mišljenja da je to najstarija sačuvana građevina u našem gradu.
Džamija prvi put renovirana 1875. godine, a da je imala renovacija i u novije vrijeme, vidi se po njenom drvenom enterijeru koji je dosta jednostavan i sa malo rezbarije.
Osvrnimo se sada malo na Medresu koju je kod Sviračke džamije izgradio Osman-kapetan Gradačcević (Osman je otac našeg poznatog Husein-kapetana Gradaščevića). U prvim godinama islama džamije su, pored uloge bogomolje, vršile i ulogu škole. Kasnije su zadatak obrazovanja preuzele medrese.
Ova medresa kod Sviračke džamije izgrađena je između 1795. i 1812. godine i toje ujedno prva medresa u Gradačcu.
Po izgledu na ovoj maloj slici, reklo bi se da je bila na lokaciji sadašnje čitaonoce u Svircu. Prvi muderis (predavač) medrese u Svircu je bio hadži-hafiz Ahmed ef. Mulaibrahimović.
Preko 50 godina je radio u ovoj medresi, a poslije smrti 1883. godine, naslijedio ga je njegov sin hafiz Ahmed Hilmi. Za one koji nisu baš sigurni šta se podrazumijeva pod pojmom medrese, recimo sljedeće: Medresa je srednja, stručna vjerska škola, koja svojim polaznicima, u duhu islamskih propisa, daje odgoj, vjersko i opće obrazovanje i sprema ih za poslove imama (hodže) i njima ravnih vjerskih zvanja za koje se traži srednja stručna sprema. Školovanje u Medresi traje 4 godine i učenici koji završe medresu mogu nastaviti školovanje na islamskim ili bilo kojim drugim fakultetima građanskog tipa.
