Velika Britanija šalje protivtenkovsko naoružanje Ukrajini

Britanija isporučuje Ukrajini protivtenkovske rakete kratkog dometa za samoodbranu nakon što je Rusija stacionirala oko 100.000 vojnika na svojoj granici, rekao je britanski ministar odbrane Ben Wallace.

Ben Wallace rekao je zastupnicima da će mali tim britanskih vojnika također biti poslan u Ukrajinu radi obuke.

Rekao je da postoji “legitiman i stvarni razlog za zabrinutost” da bi ruske trupe mogle izvršiti invaziju na Ukrajinu.

Rusija poriče bilo kakve planove invazije i optužuje Zapad za agresiju.

Deseci britanskih vojnika bili su u Ukrajini od 2015. kako bi pomogli u obuci njihovih oružanih snaga, a Ujedinjeno Kraljevstvo se također obavezalo pomoći u obnovi ukrajinske mornarice nakon ruske invazije na Krim 2014. godine.

Wallace je rekao da će Ujedinjeno Kraljevstvo pružiti dodatnu pomoć u sigurnosti u svjetlu “sve prijetećeg ponašanja Rusije”.

Prva serija lakog protivoklopnog oružja poslana je u ponedjeljak, iako ministar odbrane nije precizirao vrstu.

– Ukrajina ima svako pravo braniti svoje granice i ovaj novi paket pomoći dodatno povećava njezinu sposobnost da to učini – rekao je Wallace zastupnicima, javlja BBC.

Ponovio je da ova podrška za sposobnosti kratkog dometa i jasne odbrambene sposobnosti; ono nije strateško oružje i ne predstavlja prijetnju Rusiji, treba ih koristiti u samoodbrani.

Rekao je da postoji “paket međunarodnih sankcija spreman za primjenu” ako Rusija poduzme bilo kakvu “destabilizirajuću akciju” u Ukrajini.

– Svaka invazija bi se smatrala okupacijom koja bi mogla dovesti do velikog gubitka života na svim stranama – rekao je britanski ministar odbrane.
