Više od 400.000 muslimana obilježilo je jednu od najvažnijih noći u islamskom kalendaru, noć Lejletu-l-kadr, najodabraniju noć u godini, u kompleksu Al-Aksa u Jerusalemu
Istočni Jerusalem je grad u kojem se nalazi džamija Al-Aksa, koja je bila prva Kibla, prema kojoj su se muslimani okretali tokom molitve. Osim toga, u ovom gradu se nalaze i najznačajnija sveta mjesta kršćana i jevreja.
Unatoč zabranama, pritiscima i sigurnosnim mjerama izraelskih snaga, stotine hiljada palestinskih muslimana došle su u Al-Aksu kako bi obilježili najodabraniju noć u godini, noć vrjedniju od hiljadu mjeseci- javlja Anadolu Agency
Izraelska policija zatvorila je ceste u blizini Starog grada i nisu dozvolili prolaz bilo kojem vozilu, osim autobusa koji su tokom jučerašnjeg dana pristizali sa cijelog područja Zapadne obale.
Stotine hiljada Palestinaca molilo se sinoć za jedinstvo muslimana i okončanje ratova u islamskih zemljama.
Prema podacima Ureda islamskih vakufa Jerusalema, više od 400.000 muslimana, kao i Palestinci sa Zapadne obale, sinoć su ispunili kompleks Al-Aksa. Molitva je trajala do ranih jutarnjih sati.
Izraelske vlasti su od 2000. godine počele s izgradnjom zida razdvajanja na granici između Istočnog Jerusalema i Zapadne obale, a taj projekat pravdaju ”sigurnosnom potrebom da se spriječe eventualni napadi na izraelska naselja”.
