Svim Bošnjacima u Bosni i Hercegovini, zemljama regije i dijaspore upućujem iskrene čestitke povodom Dana Bošnjaka. – objavio je Bakir Izetbegović.
Ovaj dan obilježavamo u znak sjećanja na historijski Prvi bošnjački sabor održan 27. i 28. septembra 1993. godine.
Prvi bošnjački sabor, organiziran u jeku agresije na Bosnu i Hercegovinu, u opkoljenom Sarajevu, sudbonosno je važan događaj za naš narod.
Na tom Saboru, u okolnostima kada je bio ugrožen naš fizički opstanak, kao i opstanak naše države Bosne i Hercegovine, imali smo dovoljno snage, političke odlučnosti i intelektulane mudrosti da našem narodu vratimo njegovo stoljetno ime, kao i da vratimo ime našem bosanskom jeziku.
Tom odlukom zaokružena je naša pravedna i časna borba za našu Domovinu, za opstanak našeg naroda i našu slobodu.
Bošnjaci su oduvijek znali ko su i šta su. I u vremenu u kojem nam je uskraćivano pravo da se zovemo svojim imenom, u kojem nam je uskraćivano pravo na jezik, uvijek smo čuvali posebnosti vlastitog identiteta i njegovih temeljnih vrijednosti.
Pred svima nama je obaveza da dodatno afirmiramo i unapređujemo naš cjelokupni identitet, i vrijedno radimo kako bismo osigurali prosperitet naše države Bosne i Hercegovine.
