Džumhur ujutro protiv Nadala uz direktan TV prijenos
Najbolji bosanskohercegovački teniser Damir Džumhur u 3. kolu (šesnaestina finala) Australian Opena u Melbournu u petak će igrati protiv prvog tenisera svijeta Rafaela Nadala, javlja Fena.
Španac je u 2. kolu eliminirao Argentinca Leonarda Mayera sa 6:4, 6:3, 7:6 (4), dok je Džumhur bio bolji od domaćeg tenisera Johna Millmana sa 7:5, 3:6, 6:4, 6:1.
Prvi i 28. nosilac na prvom Grand Slam turniru sezone do sada su odigrali jedan meč i to prije dvije godine na Mastersu u Miamiju. Naš teniser je tada zabilježio pobijedu nakon što mu je Nadal predao meč u trećem setu kod rezultata 2:6, 6:4, 3:0 za Džumhura.
Tridesetjednogodišnji Španac u karijeri je osvojio petnaest Grand Slam naslova, 73 ATP turnira od kojih 30 na turnirima iz Masters serije 1000, vlasnik je zlatne olimpijske medalje, a sa španskom Davis Cup reprezentacijom osvojio je četiri naslova. Na Australian Openu ima jednu titulu, koju je osvojio 2009. godine. U karijeri je zaradio 94,5 miliona dolara. Zbog svojih uspjeha na zemljanim terenima prozvan je “kraljem zemlje” te ga mnogi teniski stručnjaci smatraju najboljim teniserom na šljaci svih vremena.
Pet godina mlađi Džumhur prošle godine osvojio je dvije ATP titule, u Moskvi i Sankt Petersburgu, a prošlu sezonu okonačao je na rekordnom 30. mjestu, na kojem se i trenutno nalazi. Najbolje plasmane na Grand Slam turnirima ostvario je na Australian Openu (2014.), Roland Garrosu (2015.) i US Openu (2017.), kada je izborio nastupe u 3. kolu. Džumhur je u karijeri zaradio 2,18 miliona dolara.
Meč Džumhur – Nadal igra se od 09.00 sati uz direktan TV prijenos na Eurosportu.
Od ostalih mečeva šesnestine finala pažnju privlače parovi Dimitrov – Rublev, Đoković – Ramos Vinolas, Kyrgios – Tsonga i Federer – Gasquet.
