I kada ne igra, Džeko oduševljava. Takav je dojam nakon što je kapiten reprezentacije BiH i Rome dobio dva vrijedna priznanja za samo nekoliko dana.
Najbolji strijelac BiH svih vremena prvo je okarkteriziran najvećim pojačanjem rimskog kluba u prethodnoj deceniji, a onda je u konkurenciji tri vrhunska gola nagrađen i za najbolji Romin gol u dekadi koja je protekla. Bilo je to kada je iz voleja pocijepao mrežu Čelzija u Londonu, u Ligi prvaka.
Kapiten “Zmajeva” je u “Vječni grad” stigao 12. avgusta 2015. godine nakon nepune četiri sezone u dresu engleskog Mančester sitija.
Iz tabora Rome podsjećaju kako je bh. fudbaler stigao kao posuđeni igrač s mogućnošću otkupa ugovora. Od tada do danas je odigrao više od 120 zvaničnih utakmice za “Vučicu”, postigavši pri tome 61 gol.
Prije Rome, Džeko je igrao za sarajevski Željezničar, potom češke klubove Teplice i Usti nad Labem. U njemački Volfsburg je došao 2007. godine, odigrao 111 zvaničnih utakmica (66 golova), a osvojio je i naslov njemačkog prvaka (2009). Početkom 2011. godine došao je u Siti, za koji je do sredine 2015. postigao 50 golova u 130 mečeva, osvojivši dvije titule prvaka Engleske. Edin Džeko je bio najbolji strijelac njemačke Bundeslige (2009.-2010.) i italijanske Serije A (2016.-2017.).
