Nizom manifestacija danas se u Gračaniciobilježava Dan odbrane ovog grada i Dan šehida.
Na današnji dan prije 28. godine, sa neprijatejskih položaja na Ozrenu Gračanica je granatirana s više od hiljadu projektila razičitog kalibra. Pogođen je Dom zdravlja i zapaljena sanitetska vozila, kao i robna kuća „Gračanka“, a poginulo je nekoliko civila.
Oko 12 sati iz pravca Ozrena, sa sočkovačkog mosta u osvajanje Gračanice, krenula je agresorska pješadija, ali je napad uspješno odbijen zahvajujući hrabrosti boraca 111. gračaničke brigade. Na ulicama i gračaničkim mahalama su ostale ruševine od granatiranja. Sve je mirisalo na barut i smrt.Zbog toga se 25maj u Gračanici obilježava kao Dan odbrane. Gradonačenik Gračanice Nusret Helić danas će primiti demobisane borce Armije R BiH, dobitnike Zatnog ljiljjana, a ispred Centralnog spomenika palim borcima i CŽR bit će izveden prigodan program i čas Čas historije. Na spomen- obilježje Zečev Gaj, mjestu pogibije deseterice boraca TO Gračanica koji su izgubii živote u odbrani naseja Malešići i Stjepan Polje, bit će položeno cvijeće i proučena Fatiha.
