Gradina – stari grad Srebrenik – historija
Srebrenik se spominje prvi put u pisanim izvorima 15. februara 1333. godine. Grad je tada bio u vlasti bosanskog bana Stjepana II Kotromanića 1322-1353. Toga dana, ban je u podgrađu Srebrenika primio poslanike Dubrovačke republike, pa im tom prilikom potvrdio pravo posjeda u Stonskom ratu (Pelješcu), «za sva vremena» – kako on to izjavljuje u svojoj Povelji. Banu se tih dana ovdje rodio i sin, što je pružilo povoda za posebne svečanosti. Od tada pa do 1512. godine, kada je prešao u turske ruke, sreća je ovom gradu bila različito naklonjena. On je vrlo često mijenjao gospodare.
Sadašnji zidovi Srebrenika su iz nešto mlađeg vremena – oni potječu iz 18. stoljeća. No grad i danas još nakon mnogih i temeljitih prepravaka, pokazuje svoju staru srednjovjekovnu osnovu i obrise. Smješten na vrletnoj stijeni, on impozantno dominira svojom okolicom.
Stari grad Srebrenik, onakav kakvog ga danas vidimo, nosi obilježje strateškog objekta. Prvobitno je on mogao biti izgrađen kao feudalni zamak, no i tada je njegova primarna funkcija bila defanzivnog karaktera – on je trebao pružiti dovoljno siguran zaklon za svoga gospodara, jer on je bio podignut u graničnom području između Bosne i Ugarske. Zbog toga je i morao mijenjati gospodare u igri snaga između ove dvije države. Kad bi ugarski kraljevi ojačali, oni su se rado dočepali grada Srebrenika, no i u Bosni se s vremena na vrijeme smoglo dovoljno snage da grad povrate matičnoj zemlji.Srebrenik je ležao u istočnom dijelu župe Usore, nadomak župe Soli. Bio je državno, banovo vlasništvo, a zapovjednici grada bili su banovi klevetnici (vazali) ili pak ljudi sa banovog dvora.
Grad je prvi put pao u mađarske ruke 1393. godine, dakle nakon smrti kralja Tvrtka I (1391. godine). Kralj Sigismund ga ipak vrlo teško održava u svojim rukama, budući da je pritisak iz Bosne bio snažan. Godine 1405. doći će i do otvorenog sukoba, kada bosanska vojska jednim dijelom prolazi u napad protiv Srebrenika. U trogodišnjem ratu, Mađari ipak uspijevaju potisnuti bosansku vojsku, nakon čega dolazi do teškog poraza pod gradom Doborom 1408. godine. Sigismund je 120 zarobljenih bosanskih plemića dao posjeći, a njihova tijela baciti niz stijenu u rijeku Bosnu. Da bi oslabio Bosnu, kralj Sigismund, između ostaloga, poklanja Srebrenik despotu Stefanu Lazareviću, dakako, samo formalno, budući da je mađarska vojska i dalje ostala kao posada na gradu. U ljeto, 1426. godine prodiru Turci u dva navrata u župu Usoru, pa tom prilikom opsjedaju i Srebrenik.
Grad ipak nisu osvojili, pa tako 1430. godine ovdje opet vidimo mađarske vojnike. Za vrijeme Kanavojskog rata (1430. – 1433.) posada sa Srebrenika pljačka Pavlovića zemlje, svakako po nagovoru Dubrovčana koji su i na taj način nastojali oslabiti svog protivnika. Srebrenički knez osvojio je 1410. godine sve važnije gradove oko Drine: Brodar, Susjed i Srebrenicu. U Srebrenici je tom prilikom teško opljačkao dubrovačke građane, tako da su se oni morali potužiti kralju Sigismundu. Kada se ugarski gubernator Janko Huniady («Sibinjanin Janko») pomirio sa despotom Đurđem Brankovićem, grad je konačno 1448. godine predan na upravu srpskom despotu. Srebrenik se zatim ne spominje nekoliko godina. Godine 1455. ovdje je jedan feudalac imenom Dmitar Radojević ubio Petra Kovačevića, člana velikaške porodice Dinjčića-Kovačevića.
Nakon propasti bosanske samostalne države značaj Srebrenika naglo raste. Ovdje je, naime, kralj Matijaš Korvin 1464. godine organizirao posebnu odbrambenu organizaciju protiv provala Turaka u Ugarsku, osnivajući takozvanu Srebreničku banovinu. Grad je bio dovoljno čvrst da se mnogo godina mogao odhrvati napadima Turaka, ali je od ratnih pustošenja znatno stradavala okolina, naročito u doba kada su Turci zaposjeli veće dijelove donje Bosne i Drine, a Srebrenik se u obliku klina našao sa tri strane opkoljen protivnikom. Ratno stanje traje do 1512. godine kada grad nakon desetodnevne opsade otvara svoja vrata, a posada bude pod gradom posječena. Srebrenik tada gubi svoj stari značaj, budući da se velika bojišta tursko-evropskih sukoba pomiču daleko na sjever. Srebrenik ostaje dugo vremena napušten.
U drugoj polovini 16. i tokom 17. stoljeća o Srebreniku nema naročitih vijesti. Kada je 1701. godine formirana Gradačačka kapetanija, u njen sastav ušao je i Srebrenik. Nije poznato da li su tada na gradu izvršene neke popravke, što je inače moguće jer je Osmansko carstvo tokom Bečkog rata (1683-1699) izgubilo velike teritorije u Panonskoj nizini, a granica Austrije primakla se sve do Save. Osnivanje Gradačačke kapetanije nije bila slučajnost, jer su ratovi između Turske i Austrije uskoro nastavljeni, a Požarevačkim mirom 1718. godine Austrija je dobila neke teritorije južno od Save. Gradačac i Srebrenik našli su se vrlo blizu neprijatelja. Turska granica bila je vrlo slabo osigurana. Na karti na kojoj je ucrtano razgraničenje između Turske i Austrije nakon Požarevačkog mira Srebrenik je prikazan samo kao selo. Utvrđenje se, dakle, tada još nalazilo u ruševinama, pa je tako bilo i bez strateške važnosti.
U novim prilikama Srebrenik dobiva ponovno značaj istaknutog pograničnog mjesta. To se stanje neće promijeniti ni nakon Beogradskog mira 1739. godine, kada je granica između Austrije i Turske vraćena na rijeku Savu. Kao u srednjem vijeku, Srebrenik se tako još jednom našao na granici između dva svijeta, s tom razlikom što sada više nisu bili u pitanju Bosna i Ugarska, nego daleko veći i opasniji neprijatelji. Granica između Turske i Austrije, utvrđena Beogradskim mirom 1739. godine, ostala je međutim nepomaknuta sve do Berlinskog kongresa 1878. godine.
Iz sačuvanih dokumenata vidimo da je 1756. godine na gradu Srebreniku bila posada čiji je zapovjednik bio podložan gradačačkom kapetanu. To znači da je grad osposobljen kao utvrđenje. Nije nam ipak poznato u kolikoj mjeri su na gradu izvršene popravke, jer već 1777. godine javljaju odavde o nekim manjim popravcima, što znači da su se zgrade vremenom obrušile, ili su se pak neke starije ruševine osposobljavale za obitavanje. Jedan austrijski izvještaj iz Bosne, iz 1790. godine, spominje Srebrenik kao «stari zamak» (ein altes Schloss), bez podrobnijeg opisa njegovog tadašnjeg korišćenja. Godine 1804. na gradu se nalazi posada od 20 vojnika. Prilikom popisa ratnih zaliha 1833. godine, ovdje je nabrojano 7 topova. Oko 1835. godine Srebrenik je napušten, a samo tri godine kasnije on je već u ruševnom stanju. Godine 1850. ovdje stoje samo još neki objekti, tako i gradski mesdžid u kome su se obavljale molitve još i u drugoj polovini 19. stoljeća.
