Aerodrom će proraditi za nekoliko dana uz mali, probni broj letova, a redovan saobraćaj se očekuje do kraja ove godineEPATurski predsjednik Recep Tayyip Erdogan danas će otvoriti novi, treći aerodrom Istanbula, koji će, kako je najavljeno, kada bude potpuno završen za 12 godina biti najveći na svijetu.
Izgrađen je na evropskoj obali kod Istanbula, 35 kilometara sjeverno od najvećeg grada Turske, u okrugu Arnavutkoy, prenosi Beta.
Otvaranje, za sada završenog dijela aerodroma, bit će simbolično priređeno na 95. godišnjicu osnivanja Turske Republike.

Erdoganov rok
Istanbul ima još dva aerodroma – jedan od njih je Ataturk, čije se skoro zatvaranje planira, te aerodrom Sabiha Gokcen.
Protesti u septembru izbili su zbog loših uslova rada, neplaćanja, stanovanja u prenatrpanim “radnim logorima” i zbog pogibija na gradilištu. Dok se zvanično tvrdi da ih je bilo 27, opozicija je u Parlamentu podnijela podatke o 400 mrtvih.
Novi istanbulski aerodrom na obalama Crnog mora opsluživat će 90 miliona putnika godišnje u prvoj fazi.
Kada bude u potpunosti završen za 12 godina, moći će da, kako se tvrdi, primi i 200 miliona putnika godišnje, uz slijetanje aviona na čak šest pista.
To je gotovo dvostruko više od sada najvećeg aerodroma na svijetu, Hartsfield-Jackson u Atlanti.
“Novi aerodrom će biti najvažniji centar između Azije i Evrope”, rekao je Kadri Samsunlu, šef konzorcija Istanbul Grand Airport – IGA u kojem je pet kompanija.
Unutrašnjost aerodroma je ukrašena u turskom i islamskom stilu, a kontrolni toranj je u obliku cvijeta tulipana, čime je 2016. godine osvojio Međunarodnu nagradu za arhitekturu.
Na aerodromu će putnicima na usluzi biti mobilne aplikacije i vještačka inteligencija, zgrada je “energetski efikasna” i ima visokotehnološki sistem osiguranja.
Zvanično ime novog aerodroma
Sve operacije letjenja će se preseliti na taj aerodrom krajem decembra kada bude zatvoren sadašnji glavni međunarodni aerodrom u Istanbulu, nazvan po osnivaču savremene Turske, Mustafi Kemalu Ataturku.
Aerodrom Ataturk opslužuje 64 miliona putnika godišnje, a na azijskoj strani grada radi i aerodrom Sabiha Gokcen s 31 milionom putnika godišnje.
Očekuje se da će Erdogan danas objaviti i zvanično ime novog aerodroma.
Pet turskih kompanija koje su pobijedile na tenderu za izgradnju aerodroma od 29 milijardi američkih dolara 2013. godine, finansiraju projekt kroz bankarske zajmove.
Konzorcij IGA će upravljati aerodromom 25 godina.
Aerodrom će prije 2030. godine imati i nekoliko VIP salona, nekoliko terminala za teret i “opću avijaciju”, “državnu palatu”, garaže i parkirališta za 70.000 automobila, Zdravstveni centar avijacije, vatrogasnu i službu za spašavanje iz aviona, nekoliko hotela i kongresnih centara, električne centrale, postrojenja za prečišćavanje otpadne vode i preradu otpada.
