Težak prijelom noge, zatim povratak na parket krajem prošle sezone i nada da će u novu Jusuf Nurkić ući potpuno fit. I bio je popularni Juka spreman, ali ga je brzo dočekala povreda ruke. Opet je morao na liječenje, biti strpljiv i polako se vraćati.
Još jednom je vrijedno radio, potom polako sakupljao minutažu i pružao solidne partije. U klubu su bili strpljivi, nisu ga previše forsirali, a onda se sve protiv Memfisa okrenulo. Nije Portland pobijedio rezultatski, ali svi američki komentatori se slažu da je povratak u formu Nurkića mnogo bitniji od pobjede u jednoj utakmici.
