Kako su izgledali prvi poslijeratni izbori u Bosni i Hercegovini
Ono što je možda i najvažnije, na izborima 1996. godine pobjedu su odnijele one snage koje su slavile i 1990. godine, odnosno one partije koje su odlučivale u vremenu pred početak raspada Jugoslavije. Slična situacija proteže se i u godinama nakon 1996.
Podsjetimo se, pobjedu za članove predsjedništva ubjedljivo su odnijeli Alija Izetbegović, Krešimir Zubak i Momčilo Krajišnik.
U Zastupnički dom Parlamentarne skupštine BiH s teritorije Federacije BiH ušle su SDA (16 mjesta), HDZ (osam mjesta), Združena lista (SDP i nekoliko tada srodnih partija – dva mjesta) te Stranka za BiH (dva mjesta).
U državni parlament iz Republike Srpske ušli su SDS (devet mjesta), SDA (tri mjesta) i Narodni savez za slobodan mir (dva mjesta).
U Zastupnički dom Parlamenta Federacije Bosne i Hercegovine ušle su sljedeće partije: SDA (78 mjesta), HDZ (36 mjesta), Združena lista BiH (11 mjesta), Stranka za BiH (10 mjesta), Demokratska narodna zajednica (tri mjesta) i HSP (dva mjesta).
U izborima za kantonalne skupštine većina zastupnika izabrana je iz SDA i HDZ-a BiH, dok su druga i treća partija bile Združena lista BiH i Stranka za BiH.
