Na današnji dan prije dvije decenije Bosna i Hercegovina dobila zastavu
Na današnji dan 1998. godine proglašena je zastava Bosne i Hercegovine, koja je zamijenila zastavu s ljiljanima, korištenu od nezavisnosti BiH.
To je četvrta zastava Bosne i Hercegovine proglašena u BiH, po čemu se naša država ističe kao jedina koja je u 20. stoljeću imala četiri zastave.
Nakon mnogo sporenja i različitih prijedloga, te nemogućnosti dogovora, aktuelnu zastavu Bosne i Hercegovine proglasio je tadašnji visoki predstavnik u BiH Karlos Vestendorp (Carlos Westendorp). Originalni Vestendorpov prijedlog pretprio je samo manje modifikacije.
Zastavu s bijelom podlogom i grbom Kotromanića zamijenila je zastava s tamno plavom podlogom, koja odgovara bojama Evropske unije.
Žuti pravougaoni trougao, koji svojim izgledom asocira na geografski oblik naše zemlje, prema tumačenjima simbolizira i tri naroda u BiH.
Zvjezdice postavljene uz hipotenuzu također predstavljaju Evropsku uniju.
Zastavu je 6. juna 2001. godine usvojio Predstavnički dom Parlamenta BiH, a Dom naroda 23. maja 2001. godine.
Zakon o zastavi objavljen je u Službenom listu Bosne i Hercegovine 3. augusta 2001. godine
