Prošle su 22. godine od kada je grb s ljiljanima zamijenio aktuelni grb Bosne i Hercegovine s trokutom i zvijezdama.
Sadašnji grb Bosna i Hercegovina dobila je 22. maja 1998. godine.
Prva varijanta grba Bosne i Hercegovine nakon Pariškog mirovnog ugovora bila je oktroisana odlukom Carlosa Westendorpa od 18. maja 1998, kojom je nametnut Zakon o grbu Bosne i Hercegovine. Odluci o grbu prethodila je odluka o zastavi Bosne i Hercegovine koja je nametnuta 3. februara 1998. da bi Bosna i Hercegovina imala zajedničku zastavu za XVIII Zimsku olimpijadu održanu 1998. u japanskom gradu Naganu.
Ovaj grb zamijenjen je sadašnjim grbom Bosne i Hercegovine, Zakonom o grbu Bosne i Hercegovine koji je donio Parlament Bosne i Hercegovine.
Prema Zakonu o grbu Bosne i Hercegovine, grb je plave boje i u obliku štita sa zašiljenim završetkom. U gornjem desnom uglu štita nalazi se trokut žute boje. Paralelno lijevoj strani ovog trokuta proteze se red bijelih zvijezda petokraka.
