Nakon što je lani slavio sa 3-1, “Kraljevski klub” je tek treći put u povijesti spojio dvije ligaške pobjede u Barcinom dvorištu nakon što mu je to uspjelo davne 1929. i 1930. godine, te 1963. i 1965.
Golove za Real zabili su David Alaba (32), Lucas Vazquez (90+4), dok je za Barcu zabio Sergio Aguero (90+7).
Zanimljiv je i podatak kako je Ronald Koeman postao tek drugi trener u povijesti koji je izgubio prva tri “El Clasica”. Prije njega to je uspjelo i Patricku O'Connellu između 1935. i 1940. godine, također na klupi Barcelone.
Bio je to prvi “El Clasico” u posljednjih 18 godina bez Lionela Messija ili Cristiana Ronalda u sastavima Barce i Reala. Premda je Barcelona imala veći posjed lopte, te nešto više udaraca, Real je posve zasluženo slavio. Koliko je Barcelona bila nemoćna pokazuje i podatak kako je pogodak Sergia Aguera u sedmoj minuti nadoknade bio prvi udarac u okvir domaćeg sastava.
