Više od 100 demokrata iz Predstavničkog doma Kongresa Sjedinjenih Američkih Država uputilo je oštre kritike zbog plana predsjednika Donalda Trumpa za rješenje izraelsko-palestinskog sukoba, rekavši da bi on, u konačnici, doveo do još većeg neprijateljstva, prenosi Anadolu Agency (AA).

“Vaš će plan podjednako naštetiti i Izraelcima i Palestincima, gurajući ih prema daljnjim sukobima. Konačni dogovor koji vaš tim inkubira posljednje tri godine nije ozbiljan ili dobronamjeran pokušaj da se u ovaj sukob uvede trajan mir. Ono što najviše zabrinjava je da vaš prijedlog zapravo otvara put trajnoj okupaciji Zapadne obale“, kaže se u otvorenom pismu kongresmena koje predvode Andy Levin i Alan Lowenthal, a koje je potpisalo još 105 njihovih kolega.

Američki predsjednik Trump 28. januara 2020. godine iznio je svoj takozvani sporazum stoljeća za okončanje izraelsko-palestinskog sukoba. Iznošenju plana u Bijeloj kući prisustvovao je premijer Izraela Benjamin Netanyahu, ali ne i palestinski zvaničnici.

Planom kojeg je Trump objavio Jerusalem je proglašen nedjeljivim glavnim gradom Izraela. Trump je tada poručio da je njegov plan zadnja šansa za uspostavu nezavisne palestinske države.

Izraelski premijer Netanyahu otkrio je ranije da plan predviđa izraelski suverenitet nad svim jevrejskim naseljima na Zapadnoj obali te je poručio da je taj plan veoma veliki i istorijski dobitak za Izrael.

Palestinska strana, uključujući pokrete otpora Fatah i Hamas, odbacila je Trumpov plan i najavila nastavak borbe za prava Palestinaca. Palestinski predsjednik Mahmoud Abbas plan je nazvao zavjerom, a iz Hamasa su poručili da taj plan nije vrijedan ni papira na kojem je štampan.
