Damir Džumhur danas protiv prvog igrača svijeta Novaka Đokovića u meču koji se dugo čekao

Bh. teniser je od kraja septembra upisao pet uzastopnih poraza, dva u Kini, jedan u Tokiju, jedan u Moskvi i jedan u Beču, sve u susretima prvog kola ovih turnira, a prepoznatljivu igru kojom je prošle godine razbijao svoje protivnike, pokazao je na ATP turniru u Parizu gdje je stigao do trećeg kola. Džumhur je prvo bez izgubljenog seta bio bolji od Gojowczyka, da bi istim rezultatom porazio izrazitog favorita i jednog od najtalentovanijih tenisera svijeta Tsitsipasa, što mu je donijelo prolazak u sljedeću fazu i prvi duel u karijeri protiv Novaka Đokovića.
Bez obzira na ishod meča između Džumhura i Đokovića, Srbijanac će se od ponedjeljka vratiti na prvo mjesto ATP liste, a nakon tačno dvije godine u kojima je imao velikih problema i s povredama i s novim režimom treninga i ishrane još jednom je pokazao svoju mentalnu snagu, prebrodio je sve probleme u kojima se našao i vratio se na sami vrh svjetskog tenisa.
Đoković je prvo mjesto osigurao samim plasmanom u 3. kolo ATP turnira u Parizu, ali i zbog činjenice da je španski teniser Rafael Nadal zbog povrede koljena otkazao nastup na ovom turniru. Srbijanac u posljednje vrijeme igra u sjajnoj formi, a najbolji pokazatelj toga je da je u junu bio 22. igrač svijeta prema ATP-u, dok će od ponedjeljka opet biti na prvom mjestu.
Zanimljivo, ovaj duel će ujedno biti i prvi međusobni između Džumhura i Đokovića, koji se u dosadašnjim turnirima nikada nisu susretali i sigurno je da će privući puno pažnje, kako javnosti u BiH tako i one u Srbiji. Damir i Novak imaju fantastičan odnos van terena, gdje se često druže i treniraju zajedno, a svakako da će ovaj prvi međusobni duel biti motivacija i jednom i drugom da pokažu najbolje od sebe i pokušaju doći do plasmana u četvrtfinale.
Svakako da je Đoković izraziti favorit u ovom meču, prije svega zbog fantastične forme u koju se vratio, ali i zbog činjenice da ovaj turnir do kraja može odigrati bez ikakvog rezultatskog pritiska. S druge strane, za Damira bi eventualna pobjeda mogla biti i jedna od najvećih u karijeri, ali i poraz od sjajnog Novaka ne treba predstavljati razočarenje za najboljeg bh. tenisera. Đoković je četiri puta osvajao Masters u Parizu (2009., 2013., 2014. i 2015.), najviše u historiji ovog prestižnog turnira.
