Na današnji dan 1831. godine Husein-kapetan Gradaščević pokrenuo je Veliki bosanski ustanak

“Ima Bosne, beglerbeže i Bošnjaka u njoj. Bili su prije vas i ako Bog da, biće i poslije vas!”

Na današnji dan 1831. godine Husein-kapetan Gradaščević pokrenuo je Veliki bosanski ustanak protiv reformi u Osmanskom Carstvu koje je provodio Sultan Mahmud II.

Te iste godine bosanska vojska, predvođena Gradaščevićem, osvaja Travnik, a zatim s više od 25.000 vojnika nanosi značajan poraz Velikom veziru na Kosovu, a 12. septembra 1831. godine u Sarajevu i zvanično proglašava autonomiju Bosne.

U čuvenom razgovoru sa turskim beglerbegom, kada mu je beglerbeg rekao: “Nema više Bosne, a neće biti ni Bošnjaka, Huseine…Gineš za državu koja nikad nije postojala, niti će.”

Husein-kapetan Gradašćević mu je odgovorio: “Ima Bosne, beglerbeže i Bošnjaka u njoj. Bili su prije vas i ako Bog da, biće i poslije vas!”
