Prije 189 godina proglašena autonomija Bosne u sklopu Osmanskog carstva
Na jučerašnji dan, 12. septembra 1831. godine, na čelu s Husein-kapetanom Gradaščevićem, kapetanom gradačačke kapetanije, Bošnjaci su u Carevoj džamiji u Sarajevu, formalno proglasili bosansku autonomiju u sklopu Osmanskog carstva.
Riječ je o jednom od najvažnijih datuma u bosanskohercegovačkoj historiji kada je prije tačno 189. godina pokrenuta politička svijest o samostalnosti, a upravo je Husein-kapetan Gradaščević bio prva ličnost koja je nakon 1463. godine pokrenula akciju da se Bosna oslobodi od tadašnjeg vlastodršca.
Tada je (1831. godine) podignut veliki ustanak Bošnjaka za autonomiju Bosne na čijem čelu je bio Husein-kapetan Gradaščević poznat kao Zmaj od Bosne.
Te iste godine, bosanska vojska, predvođena Gradaščevićem je osvojila Travnik i zarobila vezira. Nakon toga, s više od 25.000 vojnika nanijela je poraz osmanskoj vojsci na Kosovu, a 12. septembra 1831. godine u Sarajevu i zvanično proglašava autonomiju Bosne. To je praktično značilo punu nezavisnost države.
Sultan je nakon toga uspio poremetiti slogu među Bošnjacima među kojima nalazi izdajnike i šalje veliki vojni kontingent na Sarajevo, pa bosanska vojska doživljava veliki poraz u maju 1832. godine. Husein-kapetan Gradaščević se tada povlači u Austriju.
Pokret za autonomiju, odnosno, punu nezavisnost Bosne ugušen je tek 1850., dok prije toga 1836. godine nekoliko kapetana iz okoline Bihaća diže ustanak koji guše vojne trupe iz Anatolije.
